Consumers Must Know How Their Rights Under The Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA)

  1. The TCPA protects consumers from getting text messages, auto-dialled and pre-recorded messages on their cell phone in most cases.
  2. Debt collectors, banks and telemarketers often violate this federal law.
  3. Calls on your cell phone for someone else’s debt can also be a violation under the TCPA
  4. Getting pre-recorded calls or calls from an auto-dialer can also be a violation under the TCPA.
  5. Save voicemails, screen shots from your phone, or a list of all unauthorized calls to you
  6. Revoke (in writing) any permission you may have already given to any company to receiving calls.
  7. You may be entitled of up to $1,500 per call!
